Addressing typical batch
processing.
Most of the application services provided by EnginFrame can be accessed
with a plain web browser.
Currently EnginFrame provides HTML pages
working with mainstream browsers:
|
 |
Netscape
Navigator or Internet Explorer (versioni 4 e successive)
|
 |
Secure
access can be achieved using SSL or VPN tunnelling |
| |

In the future, since EnginFrame is built from ground up on XML,
we can support any other web browser: |
 |
Next
generation browser that support XML directly |
 |
Any
Web access devices (e.g. WML/GPRS/UMTS cell phones,
wireless PDA, etc.) |
| |

Addressing interactive applications.
As
most people in the Technical Computing have experienced, an HTML
browser by itself might not provide enough capabilities to handle
the user’s real needs. For this reason, EnginFrame makes integration
one of its key strenghts. As a matter of fact, often services are
provided by complementing the Web with third party technologies
(e.g. NFS, X, ICA, etc.), but still transparently to the user.
|
| |

Depending on how "fat" the client is, and which features the browser
supports, both the kind of service and the format of output that can
be delivered to the user may widely vary. |
| |
For
example, if you need to couple interactive application into your portal,
EnginFrame is integrated with: |
 |
Citrix™
ICA protocol for LAN/WAN access to Windows and Unix applications |
 |
X-Protocol
in LAN environment |
